Everything You Could Want From A Weekend In The Cotswolds

5th October 2018

Whether you’re the active type looking for adventure amongst beautiful country scenery or you’d prefer to simply relax and enjoy some pampering, the Cotswolds is a great all-round destination. With an abundance of pretty villages and quaint traditional pubs, along with fine dining, culture and outdoor pursuits aplenty, there really is something here to suit all tastes and holiday preferences.

Explore the countryside on foot

Covering over 2000 square kilometres and including parts of Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Worcestershire and Warwickshire, the Cotswolds are the epitome of idyllic rural Britain. For those who like to get out and about, this is an ideal destination for a walking holiday, with some of the best hiking in England. There are plenty of rewarding walking routes and mountain bike trails to suit all abilities, with plenty of opportunities to stop and refuel at a country pub along the way! For a relaxed getaway, try a self-guided walking holiday – popular routes are easy to follow thanks to readily-available guides, or for a true Cotswolds experience you could join an organised group with an experienced guide who knows all the best bits and secret spots.

Soak up local culture

The Cotswolds is within easy reach of some of the UK’s best known small cities of culture, including Cheltenham, Worcester, Oxford and Bath. At Tewkesbury Park, our location puts us within a short journey of Tewkesbury Abbey, Cheltenham Racecourse, the medieval market town of Chipping Campden and the breathtaking Cotswolds Open Gardens, amongst many other fabulous days out. Many of our guests choose to use the hotel as a base from which to explore the local area, returning to us each evening for a delicious home-cooked, locally-sourced meal and perhaps a well-deserved pampering session at our spa.

Get Pampered

A touch of luxury is high on the agenda for many visitors to the Cotswolds, so why not stay somewhere with the facilities to allow you to indulge? From a massage or facial to a manicure or even a relaxing full body treatment, the Cotswolds is home to some fabulous spa hotels. We all lead busy lives, so a holiday or short break is just the opportunity you need to take some time for yourself and enjoy some of the calming and cleansing therapies on offer. Whether you’re in need of a soothing, moisturising treatment or an invigorating exfoliating scrub, our spa has a fabulous selection of pampering treatments available to book and enjoy during your stay.

Shop ‘Til You Drop

Looking for something other than the same old high street stores? The Cotswolds is the perfect place to splash out on something a little out of the ordinary. Its quaint villages are a treasure trove of antiques and curiosities, along with local handicrafts and organic food produce. Cheltenham really has it all when it comes to the big names in retail as well as smaller independent shops for that one-of-a-kind piece. If you’d prefer a smaller shopping destination, pay a visit to Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh, Tewkesbury and Winchcombe, for a plethora of antiques shops, art galleries and crafts. If food’s more your thing, the weekly farmer’s market each Saturday in Stroud is a must-see. Stroud also boasts a great selection of cafes and eateries to fuel your visit.

Get in a round of golf

With rolling hills and luscious green countryside in abundance, keen golfers will be in their element with a visit to the Cotswolds. The area is home to a number of excellent courses each with their own challenges and rewards, set in stunning unspoilt countryside. Chipping Sodbury Golf Club is a well-known parkland course, and, like Minchinhampton Golf Club, is suitable for all levels of player. There’s no need to stray too far from where you’re staying  – here at Tewkesbury Park we have our very own course, in addition to a practice range and six hole par 3 course which is ideal for beginners. We offer tuition for inexperienced players, and our 6,579 yard Par 72 course includes fabulous views of the Cotswolds, Malverns and Tewkesbury Abbey.

We’re proud to be able to offer a fabulous selection of facilities at Tewkesbury Park to suit guests of all tastes. Whether you want to get out and explore the wonderful surroundings, or stay within the resort and make the most of our spa, golf course, dining facilities and luxurious rooms, we’re here to make your stay everything you could wish for from a break in the Cotswolds.
