Staying Sane During Lockdown – Tip No. 2 #athomepampering

7th May 2020

Top Tips For Pampering At Home

Our team’s top tip No. 2 for staying sane during lockdown comes from our fabulous spa manager, Abby Locke, who says that creating a bit of ‘me time’ has never been more important.

Here are Abby’s top tips for how to pamper yourself from the comfort of your own home, using a few store cupboard & fridge essentials.

Nails

Keep nails and cuticles hydrated by applying an oil (any oil in your kitchen cupboard will do – from coconut to olive oil).

Hair

Apply some oil (again from your kitchen cupboard) to the ends of your hair like a mask and leave on overnight to hydrate dry ends before washing out. You can even rub a tiny amount into the ends of your hair to keep it sleek and in style without having a haircut.

Face

Apply your favourite face mask (my personal fave is Natural Spa Factory’s ‘Bilberry and Chamomile’). Whilst this is working its magic, apply a slice of cucumber to each eye to keep eyes looking refreshed. You can do this 1-2 times a week.
Run out of your usual face mask? Don’t worry – you can use natural yoghurt as a great alternative, to provide a collagen boost, as well as tightening and shrinking pores.

Eyes

Apply cold tea bags to the eyes for 10-15 minutes to help with dark circles, puffiness and redness.

Acne/ Impurities

Apply a small amount of lemon juice onto any acne scars or spots to help heal and reduce them. PLEASE NOTE: only leave on for a few seconds, then rinse.

Sunburn

Haven’t we been lucky with the weather? If you’ve been enjoying the sunshine a little too much though and can’t find any after sun in the back of your cupboards don’t worry – there’s a couple of great options to help soothe sunburn and reduce redness: natural yoghurt straight from the fridge so that it’s nice and cool (it’s also anti-bacterial and anti-fungal), or aloe vera straight from an aloe vera plant.

And relax…

Try putting 1-2 drops of your favourite essential oil(s) (my faves are frankincense, jasmine and clary sage) on your pillow, or on a tissue placed beneath your pillow, to help promote a deeper, more relaxed sleep.
